I was being proactive for once and thought I would do a check of various parts of the system while I had not as many problems to fix. You know, find out what is wrong or not working as well as it should and fixing it before people complain about it.
I walked around the site and noticed that although I was ‘Connected’ to our wireless network, I was not actually able to access any resources using it. Really frustrating, and although I thought that it was a bit weird that no-one had reported that it wasn’t working, I set about finding the solution.
After spending an hour and a half searching for the problem, it turns out that the problem is the laptop that I am using. Changed to a different laptop, walked into the area that was affected and it works first time.
Feeling so blond and stupid right now. Should have checked another machine to rule out that problem first. Just wasted a load of time.
Maybe being proactive about support isn’t all that it is cracked upĀ to be.
